Kevin: Random thoughts on modern travel

Belated Posting:  travel in the new millennium .

I think we are all aware that aside from genital mutilation,  9/11 and the kidnapping of Nigerian schoolgirls, the worst horrors visited on civilization by The Nation of Islam the total removal of the glamour and sophistication from air travel.

However, the airlines themselves, in the effort to squeeze every last dime from their commodity, bear some of the blame. British airways offered the opportunity to choose our seats slightly earlier than the rest of the cattle here in steerage.

Some random thoughts as we taxi down the runway:

Why does checking a bag feel for all the world like you're saying farewell to the clothes you love most in the world?

Why don't airlines rethink the boarding procedure in light of the new seats in first class?Boarding the rich first means that they now must lie in their aviation Barcoloungers under microfiber blankets while the less fortunate lumber by with their carry-ons . They look for all the world like they are giving blood , not reaping the benefits of income inequality.

Boarding procedures are an interesting part of the flight experience . What's
interesting is that while we know they do this procedure multiple times a day, every day of the year, it looks like they are test driving a new procedure every time a plane is boarded.
